TOP MUSIC AND COMEDY ACTS DRAW THOUSANDS TO LIACOURAS CENTER OVER JAM-PACKED FOUR DAYS OF ENTERTAINMENT

The Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University will be packed to the rafters during four straight days of top-caliber events Friday, April 18 through Monday, April 21. The busy weekend starts with nearly sold-out performances by comedians Katt Williams (Friday, April 18) and Steve Harvey (Saturday, April 19), continues with "Turn Up the Vote: A National Youth Hip-Hop Summit" (Sunday, April 20) and concludes with Grammy-winning artist Alicia Keys (Monday, April 21).
"We are fortunate to have such an array of talented performers and events all taking place at the Liacouras Center over the course of just four days," said Global Spectrum’s Fran Rodowicz, General Manager of the Liacouras Center.
Katt Williams will take the Liacouras Center stage on Friday, April 18 at 8 pm as a part of his "The It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’ Tour". In addition to being known for his outrageous stand-up comedy style, the star recently made his movie-debut alongside Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan in the just-released major motion picture First Sunday.
Comedy legend Steve Harvey brings his "Still Trippin’ Tour" to North Philadelphia for a sold out performance alongside Mo’Nique on Saturday, April 19 at 8 pm. Harvey’s incredible ability to entertain an audience has allowed him to see success as a television star for seven years on the W.B.’s "The Steve Harvey Show and as a #1 in syndicated radio host, and also allowed him to sell out arenas across the country time and again in 2007 and 2008.
The Hip-Hop Research and Education Fund presents "Turn Up The Vote", A National Youth Hip-Hop Summit at the Liacouras Center on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 2 pm. This event is free and open to the public, however tickets are needed for entry. Information on obtaining a free ticket for the event can be found by visiting www.liacourascenter.com .
Grammy-award winning R&B artist Alicia Keys headlines the weekend with a performance on Monday, April 21 at 7:30 pm. Enjoying one of the most phenomenally successful years of her career as a performer, producer and songwriter, Keys, has won nine Grammys and has sold over 40 million albums and singles worldwide.
The tour, which is one of the most highly anticipated tours of the year, will build upon the unparalleled success of Keys’ latest album, As I Am, and continue her reign as one of the most prolific performers and songwriters of this generation.
